before you start

the steps

these can be done in any order

  1. the handheld in the passage under Z-C

the underground passageway off teleporter room Z-Canyone

in the underground passage leading off teleporter room Z-C, behind the mystery box. a small hand-held radio.

Maxis dictating a letter to the Reichstag, complaining about funding.

  2. the handheld by the stairs in spawn

    the spawn roomanyone

in the room you start in, beside a barrel on the right hand side of the stairs going down. a smaller hand-held radio.

this is the one where Maxis is shouting "stand up" at something that groans back.

  3. the handheld above the door by the Trench Gun

across from the M1897 Trench Gun, outside teleporter Z-Aanyone

across from where the M1897 Trench Gun is bought, outside teleporter Z-A, above a door to the right of the mystery box. look up.

Maxis and his daughter, talking about a dog.

  4. the handheld down by the ladder in Z-B

    room Z-B, by the bridgeanyone

go into room Z-B near the bridge, find the left tank, the one with feet, look down at the ladder, crouch, and hold use.

this is the only one of the seven you have to get low for.

you only get this wrong once

standing up and looking at the ladder does not do it. the prompt is a crouch away, which is why this is the one people finish the map without ever hearing.

  5. these can be done in any order

  6. the phonograph on the shelf in Z-C

    the Z-C teleporter roomanyone

on a shelf at the stairs in the Z-C teleporter room, behind where the mystery box first sits. a larger black one rather than a handheld.

test number three, with Richtofen answering "yes, doctor".

  7. the phonograph above the ovens

the room above the main cremation ovenanyone

on a filing cabinet that has fallen over, in the room above the main cremation oven.

the dog one. this is where the hellhounds come from.

  8. the phonograph in the furnace

    under teleporter Z-Aanyone

inside an empty furnace under teleporter Z-A, on the right hand side of the ground floor as you look at the teleporter from the doorway.

test number six, and the last of the seven.

    tip

the map has a fifth handheld radio in its files, but it can only be played in the old iPod version by knifing the air conditioning unit in front of Double Tap Root Beer. it is not reachable here.
