Love and War
six trophies, six tasks and two boss fights. the biggest quest in the game and the one that asks the most of a group.
- players
- any number
- solo
- possible alone
- difficulty
- time
- an hour and a half to 3 hours
- reward
- the achievement, every perk on the map, and no limit on how many you can hold
the time, and a rating of "very hard", come from Gorod Krovi Main Quest at COD Zombies Guides. the pips are our own estimate, scaled against every guide here.
before you start
- the Dragon Network Controller
- the
Guard of Fafnir - the
Gauntlet of Siegfried - the
Dragon Strikethe crystal on the top floor of the Hatchery. everybody interacts, you survive four waves of zombies, drones and Manglers, and then everybody interacts again
not required, but it helps
- the
GKZ-45 MK3out of the mystery box, and not required. it is useful in almost every step and close to essential in the boss fight
the steps
in the Hatchery basement, right of the incubators, there is a generator under a tarp. kill a Valkyrie Drone next to it, or let one shoot it.
that powers it and starts a five minute clock on the valves below.
tipif the clock runs out, go back and press the button by the generator. it does not need another drone, and it does not reshuffle the valves, so you keep whatever you had worked out.
six valves. one has a green light; one is whistling, and that one has the pink code cylinder inside it. which is which changes every game.
- the Tank Factory, left side of the bottom floor
- the Supply Depot, right of the mystery box, under the stairs
- Dragon Command, right of the
Bowie Knifewall buy - the armoury, top floor opposite the bridge switch
- the infirmary, between the bunk beds opposite the staircase
- the department store, third floor, straight ahead coming in from the infirmary
set every valve except the one holding the cylinder, and the cylinder comes free. take it to S.O.P.H.I.A. at Dragon Command.
tipthis is the natural moment to put the dragon egg down on the nest at the bottom of the Dragon Command stairs, since you are walking past it.
shoot the letters on the wheel left of S.O.P.H.I.A. to spell KRONOS, top wheel to bottom wheel. then interact with S.O.P.H.I.A.
you only get this wrong onceshoot the left or right of a wheel, never the middle. the second source says a centre shot does nothing at all, which reads as the letter not registering rather than as a mistake. get the word wrong and you wait a whole round to try again.
six silver trophies, each one hidden behind a different trick:
- Gersh: at the bottom of the Dragon Command stairs, turn to face away from Dragon Command. shoot the raised left hand of the right hand statue on the building
- Valkyrie Drone: at
Double Tapin the Tank Factory, shoot the left of the two windows with theGuard of Fafnir. it hits a pipe behind and the trophy drops by the machine - Mangler: at the Supply Depot, set off the giant laser trap and let it finish. the trophy is under the floorboard the laser was burning
- Bomb: just outside the Supply Depot, put a
Dragon Strikeon the puddle nearest the overhead path from the armoury - Groph Pod: in the Operations Bunker, launch the Whelp, then melee the safe left of the workbench with the gauntlet
- Group 935: leaving the Hatchery through the sewer, shoot the red light on the roof of the pipe as you go. it turns green, and the trophy is in the toilet on the pack-a-punch floor of the Hatchery
you only get this wrong onceyou can collect them early but you cannot place them early. the console only accepts them once the password step is done.
put the six trophies on the placeholders under the main monitor, opposite S.O.P.H.I.A., then press the button below them to be given one. a spotlight under a trophy says which one you got.
five come in a random order. the sixth is always the information download. none of them can be started on a Valkyrie Drone round.
- the bombs: the monitor flashes six areas, then flashes them again more slowly. that second order is the order you defuse them in, one bomb in each of Dragon Command, the infirmary, the armoury, the Tank Factory, the Supply Depot and the department store
- Gersh: he appears as a yellow orb and hums. shoot him with any pack-a-punched weapon until he glows purple and warps. three times
- the drone: a friendly Valkyrie Drone comes in at spawn with one hit point, and you walk it to Dragon Command. touch it and it is over
- the Mangler: a green eyed Mangler spawns in the Tank Factory, the infirmary, the armoury or the top of the department store. escort it to Dragon Command without killing it
- the Groph pod: another pod under a green beam, this one outside the map, so it wants range. then send the Whelp for the cargo
- the download: a keycard from the drawer under the button, into the terminal on the Hatchery's pack-a-punch floor. a lockdown of Manglers only until it finishes, then take the keycard back to S.O.P.H.I.A.
you only get this wrong oncethe bombs are the one that can end a run. failing downs everybody who is not at the back of spawn, in the Hatchery or riding a dragon, so in co-op a failure with the whole team spread over the bombs is the game. alone it is survivable on a
Quick Revive. and the clock is sixty seconds in co-op, three minutes alone.tipon the drone task,
Undead Man Walking,In Plain SightandIdle Eyesall help. on the Mangler task do not use them: it has to keep line of sight on a player the whole way, and alone the last two will fail it for you.interact with S.O.P.H.I.A. and she hands over a power core for Ultimis Nikolai's mech.
go to the back of spawn, Belinski Square, and launch the Whelp at the mech. it carries the core over and comes back.
then return to S.O.P.H.I.A. She detaches and flies off, which is your cue to spend points before the fight.
stand on the metal grate where S.O.P.H.I.A. was. it drops you into a sewer that comes out in the arena behind spawn.
press the button in the ring of pillars and a Giant fires a laser at the debris, freeing Ultimis Nikolai. a Max Ammo appears and stays there until somebody wants it.
the dragon first. avoid the fire or eat it behind the
Guard of Fafnir. Nikolai harpoons it, that opens a weak point, you shoot it. four times.then Nikolai. four weak points on the mech: the two yellow lights on the front, and the two power cores on top, which only show while it is attacking. with all four gone, a final weak point in the centre ends it.
tipthe quest was uncompletable for a while: a title update in April 2018 crashed the game during the ending. it was patched on PC that July and on consoles in August 2019, so only a very old unpatched copy still has it.
arrow keys or j and k to move, d to tick this one off.
all of it, done.
what that got youthe achievement, every perk on the map, and no limit on how many you can hold
