difficulty and time are an estimate made while writing, not a measurement.

before you start

the steps

  1. feed the three dog heads

Broadway, the infirmary, and the docksanyone

six zombies each, into three Cerberus heads:

    • the Broadway cell block, near the B23R
    • the infirmary, next to the Afterlife power box
    • the docks, on the lower level near the workbench

when all three have sunk back into the wall and the dog head icon is glowing, a room opens under the sign of three dog heads down in the Citadel Tunnels, near Double Tap. the Hell's Retriever is in the hole in the wall below the emblems.

both sources put the three heads in the same three rooms and the retriever in the same hole.

    tip

lose it by bleeding out and it is not gone: walk back to that room and pick it up again.

  2. kill fifteen with it

    anywhereone player, each for themselves

about ten to fifteen kills with the Hell's Retriever. you hear the Afterlife sound and a bit of music when it counts.

everything below has to be done by each player separately. one person unlocking the Redeemer does not unlock it for anybody else, though you can all work through it at the same time.

  3. a whole round on the bridge, tomahawk only

the Golden Gate Bridgeone player, each for themselves

on round 10 or higher, spend a full round on the Golden Gate Bridge and get thirty kills with the tomahawk inside that one round.

the Afterlife sound at the end of the round is how you know.

you only get this wrong once

fire any weapon and the step restarts. knifing at the air is fine; a single panicked shot is not.

  4. throw it into the lava

under the Cerberus head near the B23Rone player, each for themselves

throw the Hell's Retriever into the lava pit under the Cerberus head by the B23R. it does not come back, which is the only time that happens, and you hear the Afterlife sound again.

    tip

there is easy access to the pit under the ramp that leads up to the B23R, which is a much better throwing angle than from above.

  5. pick the blue one up

the Citadel Tunnels, in Afterlifeone player, each for themselves

on any round after that, go back to the room in the Citadel Tunnels where the tomahawk was. it is empty and the glow is blue rather than red.

go into Afterlife and pick the Hell's Redeemer up. charged once it kills anything, it charges three times instead of two, and Brutus still needs more than one hit while his helmet is on.

you only get this wrong once

only on Original difficulty. on anything else none of this happens.
